Introduction

The girder hoisting crane is a type of gantry crane specifically designed for bridge construction. These cranes can operate in two modes: two units working together to lift a prefabricated beam, or a single unit equipped with a double spreader to lift the beam. The lifting capacity for each of the two cranes used in tandem is typically 450 tons, while a single crane used independently can often reach a capacity of 900 tons. Equipped with mechanisms for leg travel, trolley travel, and trolley hoisting, it enables fully mechanized operation in all directions.

It can either be used as two units working in tandem to lift prefabricated beams, or as a single unit equipped with a double spreader for lifting. Its main applications include:

  • Transporting prefabricated beams from the casting bed to the storage location.
  • Hoisting the cured prefabricated beams from the storage area onto the beam transport vehicle.
  • Acting as lifting equipment to assist in the assembly and disassembly of the bridge launching gantry.
  • Erecting viaducts or bridges with low pier heights.

The main structure of the girder hoisting crane can be divided into the following major parts:

  1. Assembled Main Girder: The core load-bearing structure, using forms like box girders to meet strength, rigidity, and stability requirements.
  2. Legs: Support the entire crane and can travel on rails, enabling longitudinal movement.
  3. Trolley System: Includes the crane travel mechanism, trolley travel mechanism, and hoisting mechanism, responsible for the transverse movement and vertical lifting of the load.
  4. Electrical Control System: Acts as the “neural center,” encompassing all electrical components for drive, control, and safety protection.
  5. Safety Protection Devices: Includes overspeed protection, overload limiters, various limit switches, and emergency braking systems.
