Recently, Weihua’s special gantry crane for vertical shafts with a lifting height of 658 meters has been officially put into use at the Songyang Pumped – storage Power Station in Zhejiang Province. It helps the construction of the power station enter a new stage and contributes vigorous green kinetic energy to the construction of a green, efficient, and intelligent power system in the local area.

The diversion vertical shaft of the Songyang Pumped – storage Power Station is 537 meters deep, and together with the upstream surge shaft directly above it, they form a vertical shaft with a total height of 637 meters, which is the deepest vertical shaft in domestic water conservancy and hydropower projects.

The ultra – high – lift gantry crane used in this project, with a lifting height of 658 meters, has become the world’s first – set equipment. It provides an efficient and safe solution for the project construction and can complete a series of safe lifting operations with ultra – high lift during the entire process of vertical shaft construction and excavation.

Especially in key links such as slag removal during the excavation of the upper part of the surge shaft, the installation and removal of the whole – machine of the vertical shaft boring machine in the well, the precise lifting and transportation of penstocks, the automatic unhooking and hanging in deep wells, and the safe and efficient transportation of construction workers in the well, it plays an irreplaceable and important role. It realizes full – process coverage during the construction of the vertical shaft, demonstrating Weihua’s outstanding strength in the field of ultra – large – scale lifting equipment.

After the completion of the Songyang Pumped – storage Power Station, it will undertake tasks such as peak regulation, valley filling, energy storage, frequency regulation, phase regulation, and emergency accident standby for the Zhejiang power grid, further enhancing the flexible dispatching ability of the East China power grid. It is of great significance for building a new power system with new energy as the main body and ensuring energy security.
